Kiwi Kiwi Location Privacy Notice

Effective Date: June 15, 2026

Kiwi Kiwi uses location to support dating features while reducing precision and exposure. This notice explains how location works at a high level.

1. Why Kiwi Kiwi uses location

We use location information to:

  • Help you set an approximate home area.
  • Support Search and visibility criteria.
  • Show approximate distance labels.
  • Help prevent abuse, location hopping, and misuse.
  • Support service reliability, safety, and troubleshooting.

2. Home location

You may choose a home location during onboarding or profile editing. Kiwi Kiwi may process selected home-location information and current-location information to validate the selection, enforce distance and cooldown rules, and derive an approximate home area.

Kiwi Kiwi is designed to store approximate home-area information rather than using exact selected coordinates as normal member-facing profile location.

Home location changes may be limited, such as one change every 30 days, to reduce abuse and improve trust.

3. Current location

If you allow current-location use, Kiwi Kiwi may process current-location information to derive approximate current-location information for supported features.

Current location is used for current-distance search and labels only when supported by your settings and the app’s rules.

4. What other members see

Other members should not see your exact GPS coordinates, exact selected location, or exact current location.

Depending on settings and eligibility, other members may see:

  • Approximate distance labels.
  • Coarse home place labels such as city/region when available.
  • Whether you fall within their Search criteria.

Distance labels may be rounded, approximate, delayed, unavailable, or based on approximate location rather than exact position.

5. What Kiwi Kiwi does not do

Kiwi Kiwi is not:

  • A real-time location-sharing service.
  • An emergency locator.
  • A live tracking tool.
  • A family/friend locator.
  • A guarantee that a member is where they say they are.

Do not rely on Kiwi Kiwi location features for emergency response or personal safety planning.

6. Permissions and settings

Your device operating system controls location permissions. You can change permissions in your device settings. Some Kiwi Kiwi features may be limited or unavailable if location permission is disabled or if required home/current location information is missing.

7. Retention

Kiwi Kiwi retains approximate location information as needed to provide the service, enforce settings and cooldowns, support safety, prevent abuse, resolve disputes, and comply with law. We do not intend to use exact GPS coordinates as durable profile location records.

Backup copies and operational records may persist for a limited period before deletion or overwrite, and some records may be retained where needed for safety, abuse prevention, legal compliance, disputes, or enforcement.

8. Safety reminder

Even approximate location information can be sensitive. Do not include exact addresses, workplace locations, schools, routines, or meeting locations in profile text or messages unless you are comfortable sharing them.
